MONTHLY SUPPORT

Leave the light on.

Supporters fund the work. Everything I make stays free: the song, the video, the streams, the guides, the monthly foster-family Zoom. Your light is what keeps it that way.

WHAT A PORCH LIGHT MEANS

Somebody left this on before they went to bed.

That’s the whole message. It doesn’t say welcome, or we love you. It says: I thought about you coming home, and I did something about it.

Most kids in the system have never had one left on for them. They’ve had a duffel bag, a caseworker’s back seat, and a house they’d never seen until that night. Tonight there are 328,947 of them in this country, bouncing home, to home, to home, and a lot of them have stopped believing anyone will stay.

People tell foster kids they’re lucky to have someone. They aren’t lucky. They have finally received the bare minimum of what they deserve. They deserve that light on. They deserve a place to call home. A kid in foster care doesn’t need to be a project someone rescues; he needs to be a person someone keeps.

Because every child deserves to know what home feels like.

WHERE THE MONEY GOES

No office. No staff. Just a foster dad with a mission.

The video stays free

Production and licensing, so any agency in the country can use Home to You to recruit foster parents. Free, forever.

The rooms stay open

The community, the Zooms, the place where a scared family asks the real questions at midnight.

The tools get built

The guides, the Get Involved directory, the resources for families who are already in it and running on empty.

Showing up where it matters

Connecting and partnering with the organizations doing this work, and sometimes waiving my fee to speak, perform or travel when they can’t cover it.

New music and the gear to make it

I’m a vocalist; everything else is electronic. Music equipment, production, the rig and speakers that turn a room into a show, and the gas to get to the shows, the schools and the conferences.

THE TIERS

Four ways to keep it lit.

Monthly giving is what lets me plan: keep the rooms and the websites running, put in the hours to build things, say yes when an organization can’t pay a fee, and promise an agency the video will always be free. Every tier comes with a real seat at the table, not a thank-you email.

PRODUCERS

These are the people keeping the light on for a whole street.

A Producer is named as a sponsor on every project I release. Right now, that’s:

  • John Maupin
  • William Cockerham

Don’t give me money you shouldn’t be giving. If a light costs you groceries, keep the groceries. I mean that.

Every dollar funds the music, the videos, the streams and this community. It never funds my ability to foster.

THE WALL

Right now, seven porch lights are on.

I’d like there to be a hundred. Not a million followers. A hundred porch lights. Here’s every one of them, honestly, and if you hover one you’ll see who’s home.

THE FREE RUNG

Can’t give right now? Then don’t. Seriously.

Money is the fourth-best thing you can do for a kid in foster care, and I’d rather have you than your card. Light one anyway:

Send the song to one person

Someone who has ever said “we’ve thought about fostering.” That sentence is usually waiting on permission.

Tell a foster parent you see them

Not advice. Not questions. Just that you noticed. It’s a two-minute text and it lands for weeks.

Send the video to an agency near you

It’s free to them, forever, and most of them don’t know it exists yet.

Rather give once?

A one-time gift does real work too, and it doesn’t obligate you to anything. Give what feels right.
